Katie has been creating art for as long as she can remember. She began studying art as a child and grew to love color, texture and design. During High School Katie studied under master artist Kwok Wai Lau and instructor Doug Stanton. She had her first art show when she was 16 where she sold her first painting. Katie graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art. While attending school she studied under Guy Kinnear, William Catling, Susan Ney, Kent Bulter and Kiran Gaya. She furthered her artistic skills in a variety of mediums but concentrated on painting and drawing. During this time she grew fond of working with acrylic paints and pen and ink drawings. Since graduating college Katie has continued to show her work in galleries and strengthen her skills while working full time.

Art is a way to express our inner emotions and capture our environment on canvas or paper. Katie’s art represents the emotion within that is expressed with color and images on her paintings. Her latest technique involves painting acrylic abstract background and drawing images on top of the paint with ink. She hopes her paintings will sooth and excite her viewers. Katie’s art is filled with movement and passion for beauty that comes from within.
